Why choose an ORAl surgeon for BOTOX® AND JUVEDERM®?

Botox® and Juvederm® treatments are commonly associated with plastic surgeons or dermatologists.  However, Oral Surgeons have a unique and immediate advantage over other medical professionals in providing this wrinkle-reducing treatment for you.  As a board-certified Maxillofacial Oral Surgeon, Dr. Bandrowsky has been especially trained on the physiology, skeletal structure and muscle groups of the face – including the soft tissues that are targeted by Botox® and Juvederm® injections.  His knowledge and training on the human face helps ensure you achieve the best possible results from your treatments.

What is BOTOX® used for?

Botox® is a nonsurgical treatment that diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes. Through a process called cosmetic denervation, Botox®  works by freezing the muscles that cause wrinkles when they contract, stopping wrinkles at the very source. The effects of Botox® are generally visible within three to four days after treatment and can last for 3 to 5 months before a retreatment is recommended.

The Botox® procedure involves injecting a substance beneath the outermost layer of the skin, targeting the precise area where the muscles contract and wrinkles occur.  Botox® injections are performed without anesthesia because it is virtually painless. Only a very small sting is felt when the injections are made.

What to expect after the procedure

After treatment, patients may experience slight bruising around the area that quickly fades. Normal activities can be performed immediately. Possible side effects include temporary weakness of nearby muscles. Dr. Bandrowsky will explain all risks associated at the time of your consultation.

Juvederm® – Dermal filler

Juvéderm® injectable gel is a “next-generation” dermal filler introduced to the U.S. market by Allergan, the company which manufactures Botox.  The smooth consistency gel helps to instantly restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth).

With Juvederm®, the results are immediate with minimal downtime. Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing, and the results last up to 6 months or more. Juvederm can be used virtually anywhere on the face, with most success in the lips, nasolabial folds, and the marionette lines (lines from the corners of the mouth downward to the jawline).

If you are interested in rejuvenating the facial tissues on your face, Botox® and Juvederm® could be the solution you have been seeking.                                                                                    Call our offices with any questions or to schedule a consultation!
